NEW HARTFORD — GPO Federal Credit Union is offering college-bound high school seniors with the opportunity to compete for scholarships to help finance their education.
GPO will be awarding three scholarships worth $1,000, $500 and $300. Also by applying through the GPO scholarship program, students will be automatically eligible for scholarships awarded through the Utica-Rome Chapter of Credit Unions and on a statewide level in amounts up to an additional $1,750.
To be eligible, the student must be a member in good-standing at GPO Federal Credit Union, and must be a high school senior attending a two or four-year accredited educational institution for the first time in the fall of 2021. Scholarship applications are available at all GPO branches or online at gpofcu.com. The deadline to submit an application is January 5, 2021.
Applications will be independently judged and based upon academic achievements, extracurricular and community activities and the quality of a written essay.
