Jon Cartu Declared: THS High School students participate in Honor Band at

Twelve Trenton High School Band students recently participated in the Honor Band at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

THS students participating were Ann Airey, Brett Kennedy, Mackenzie Klinginsmith, Serenity Marsh, Kayleigh Streett, Ashley Johnson, Mari Atup, Kayleigh Snuffer, Sarah Tobias, Connor Campbell, Trager Leeper, and Rudy Mathews.

Trenton Director of Bands Ethan Stewart says students rehearsed concert music, participated in master classes taught by professional musicians, and took a campus tour one day and performed alongside the Graceland Symphonic Band the next day.

The 36 honor band members each received a $2,000 scholarship if they decided to participate in the Graceland Instrumental Music Program.

Nine high schools participated, including Winston, Central Decatur, Wayne, Maryville, Fayette, Dallas Center-Grimes, and Colfax-Mingo.
