Got a great business idea?
Harrisburg University is ready to help you grow it. The college is holding its annual launchU startup challenge, a “Shark Tank” style event where budding entrepreneurs can pitch their idea to see if they can have a chance to grow it at the school’s innovation lab.
High school and college students are eligible for the competition, which will be accepting applications through Nov. 1, 2020. After applying, they’ll be able to work on their business proposal with Harrisburg University’s team of mentors, faculty and staff. They’ll learn more about how to start a business and how to make their business idea the kind of idea that will generate investment. On Jan. 21, 2021, they’ll have a chance to pitch their idea in front of a panel of judges at a special showcase. The winners of the competition will be awarded various prizes, with the grand prize winner having the chance to incubate their idea through the school’s innovation lab.
You can apply for the competition. at cie.harrisburgu.edu/launchu. For the application, you’ll need to be able to describe the problem your idea is designed to solve, your idea itself, the markets you’ll target and the team you’ll assemble to help get the job done. You’ll also need to have plans for funding, marketing and more.
